We just moved The Gypsy Farm up to Eden Mills, Vermont. We have eggs, cow and goat milk, and will be producing meat chickens, turkeys, ducks, and geese for the freezer. We are also raising piglets, ducklings, goslings, and turkey poults for the market. Its hard to not feel isolated up here. I am anticipating attending farmer's markets in Craftsbury, Hardwick, Morrisville, and Johnson.

Hi,

Hope you are following old comments, and don't mind they're being on a different matter about which you've messaged, as this isn't about this post, but about your recent Tweeted "Fake olive oil alert! I put this in the fridge overnight; it didn't solidify or get cloudy at all! #fail http://twitpic.com/3nt8o1 ".

The fridge test is not a reliable test for EVOO authenticity:

This farm sounds fabulous! I really like that they use a local butcher--not so easy to find these days, and while a farm can have great living conditions for their animals, if they get sent off to a commercial abbatoir it seems to defeat the purpose a bit.

I think I need to invest in a chest freezer soon so I can embark on this kind of bulk purchasing of meat, that is an amazing price. I do keep seeing really good prices on meat in VT in general, whereas local farms in MA and NH are more expensive. I wonder if it's just a different supply-demand ratio.
